Day 4: Lima Tasting and Cooking Tour

I started off this AM in the hotel garden watching these guys chowing down.  The big guy is a West Peruvian Dove.  I think the little guy is a yellow warbler.

I went on a tasting and cooking tour today.  There were only 5 people on the tour, so it was really great.  We started off having coffee at a coffee roaster in my neighborhood and then a stroll through the park for a lucama fruit milkshake.  This fruit tastes like butterscotch.

Next we were off to Santa Cruz market.

These are baby avocados.  It was fun because it seemed like almost every fruit had a baby version.

We got to taste an assortment of fruits.  Yummy!

This is corn with the large kernels that I absolutely love.

We then went to a short cooking class.  We made Pisco Sours.

And then ceviche.  It was really fun and really delicious.

My final product!!

As if this wasn't enough food we had lunch at Huaca Pucllana Restaurant which is built on a pre-Inca pyramid.

Our table was on a terrace overlooking the ruins.

Tomorrow I leave for the Sacred Valley via Cusco.  I have really enjoyed Lima.

Day 14: Cooking Class and Leaving Cusco

Today is my last day in Peru.  It has been a wonderful trip.  I started at the San Pedro Market today.  The design was from Eifel in France....
